PABO Teaching Program

Last year, less than 5 % of the learners from Nemato succeeded in passing the entrance exams into the university (Matric). This condition results from overcrowded classrooms, insufficient and ill-trained teachers and a lack of basic study materials. Driven by the goal to improve these circumstances, Stenden South Africa has been sending its exchange PABO students (teacher education) to support children of all ages of the local community with their school tasks and homework. In 2010, five students have been engaging in the program and by 2012, the CDO plans to involve a total number of 12 students teaching kids at local schools.
