Student Representative Council
Student Representative Council (SRC) is elected by the students, and these students serve on the committee for an academic year.
The SRC bridges the gap between the students and management. When students have any issues on campus, they talk to the SRC, and we speak to management about it, so the problem can be solved. There are different portfolios within the SRC.

Message from Rishaka Shitlhelana, SRC President
As the President of the SRC I am very pleased with the Committee that is to serve during the 2011 - 2012 in office. The new 2011-2012 SRC would like to introduce a vision the committee has in delivering their services to the students; we came up with the following statement:
“The SRC for 2011-2012, have a passion for excellence and professionalism in Student Leadership that is founded on integrity and transparent communication with the students and management. We are accountable to the students and have a responsibility to perform our duties and services with honour. We dedicate ourselves to being Strong, Courageous and True. We will be proactive visionaries in working towards a unified campus and improving a Stenden Culture that every student can be proud of.”
I have every faith in each candidate to uphold the standards that they have to the SRC of Stenden South Africa including the service to the students. The committee consists of 11 members, which shows the growth and interest to the SRC whereby the bar is being raised due to the continuation of the Stenden Culture.
The committee decided to remove the portfolio of being a first year representative that was implemented by the old committee, however it has been replaced by a portfolio called Social Media. This portfolio includes duties like being a chief publicity agent of the SRC internally within the University. Ensures publication of a monthly report back broadsheet to students and the Student Forum through the Stenden Blog. Edits and publishes a publication that allows for idea sharing and debating of issues affecting students. In conjunction with the Secretary, files all meeting report backs, accomplishments and failures of the SRC in an orderly fashion. As a committee we would like to continue and leave a legacy and foundation for future members to build and improve on as our past leaders have in the SRC committee. Therefore, we believe that this portfolio should be kept in the committee.
The SRC also works very closely with the other committees on campus. However, special mention must be made of the working relationship we have with the Entertainment Committee and Sport committee. Working together we aim to provide entertainment and events that would include the participation of all students here on campus.
Our theme for this module is “Unity at Stenden ” which has been the main focus of all the SRC members that held their roles in the committee in Stenden South Africa. This places emphasis on the goals and plans we have as committee for the year ahead. We plan to usher in a new campus culture and collectively create an atmosphere that all students can enjoy and take part in. This is due to the fact that campus has grown in number quite significantly. We recognize that student involvement on this campus is crucial. Therefore, we highlight this element and encourage all students to participate actively in all provided activities.
